Matthew 18:21-22

Unlimited forgiveness, unconditional love — this is our "why".

Why “490”?
490

What the "490" Means

In Matthew 18:21-22, Peter asked Jesus, “How many times should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times (which he thought was already ‘over the top’)?” Jesus replied, “Not seven times, but seventy times seven.”

Jesus wasn’t giving a math lesson—He was teaching us that forgiveness should have no limits. Biblically, that number, ‘490’, represents “completion” and “fullness”. It’s a reflection of the forgiveness He offers to us: unlimited, unconditional, and available to everyone.

The Real 490

FAR BIGGER THAN ANY WARRANTY

Our promise is only a shadow of Jesus' promise to you and me.

What Kind of Forgiveness Are We Talking About?

Jesus promises forgiveness for everything—no matter:

  • What you’ve done.
  • Who you’ve hurt.
  • How long ago it happened.
  • How big or small the mistake was.
  • Even what you might do in the future.

It’s all covered. There’s no fine print, no exceptions, and no limits. His forgiveness is complete and eternal.

You Don’t Have to Clean Yourself Up First

One of the most amazing things about Jesus’ forgiveness is that you don’t have to “fix” yourself before coming to Him. You don’t need to:

  • Explain yourself.
  • Make excuses.
  • Try to undo the damage.

Jesus doesn’t ask you to clean up your life before He forgives you. He simply asks you to come to Him and ask for forgiveness. That’s it. No strings attached.

How Do You Receive This Forgiveness?

It’s simple: You ask Jesus.

“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”John 14:6

He is the only doorway to a relationship with the Creator of the universe. There’s no other path, no other way to earn it. It’s a free gift, but you have to accept it, and you can only accept it from HIM.

What Does This Mean for You?

It means that no matter who you are or what you’ve done, you can have a fresh start. You can experience the peace and freedom that comes from knowing you’re completely forgiven. And it’s not just about forgiveness—it’s about a relationship with God, the One who created you and loves you more than you can imagine.

Why Did Jesus Do This?

Jesus’ forgiveness isn’t just a nice idea—it’s rooted in what He did for us. When He died on the cross, He took the punishment for all of our mistakes, failures, and sins.

The fact that he CHOSE to give up his deity and live as a human on this earth (with all of it’s trials and difficulties) for 33 years, knowing that a humiliating, excruciating death on a cross was awaiting him is evidence of his great love for you. His resurrection is the evidence that He has the power over sin and death – power to forgive and give us eternal life.

This forgiveness is available to everyone, but it’s not automatic. You have to ask for it. You have to trust Him and accept what He’s done for you.

What’s Next?

If you feel the Spirit of God moving in your heart, and you’re ready to accept Jesus’ forgiveness and start a relationship with Him, here’s a simple prayer you can say:

A Simple Prayer

“Jesus, I know I’ve made mistakes. I know I’ve sinned. But I believe You died for me and rose again so I could be forgiven. I ask You to forgive me for every wrong thing I’ve done and ever will do in my life. I want to follow You and have a relationship with You. Thank You for loving me and forgiving me. Amen.”

If you prayed that prayer, I’d love to celebrate with you and help you take your next steps. You can contact me (Mike Kaufman — the Owner) on my personal cell at 616-706-1130 (please text first — I often don’t answer numbers I don’t know, but I don’t want to miss your call).
